I am picking my Hundertwasser-project. That is the only project I created from my mind, and not a from a reference picture. I loved the project from the early beginning. Colorful, playful and a lots creativity. Despite the fact that it was an amazing fun project, it was challenging. Because of the acrylics thinness and my will that the result needed to be clear and colorful, it became the painting I laid most time on. My solution to success by creating “Moder Jord har ett problem” is that I thoroughly picked my colors. How the border change color depending on what color it is inside. I also made the border irregular to make the painting more playful. From the early beginning I knew that I was going to somehow use the combination of dark blue and orange. In my eyes, that is the most perfect color combinations of them all. I also wanted to have some sort of message. About the climate changes and the sexualizing of women in today’s society. Then I came up with the idea of Mother Earth (Mother Earth has a problem) which indicates both women’s position in society and that our planet actually have a huge problem to deal with. I wanted to bring nature into the painting and also a sign that we have destroyed our Earth. That is why I have trees and skyscrapers. I like that I gave the buildings different pastel colors and that I kept some whites. The rest was just improvisation. Afterwards I realize that the final piece would had been even better if I used a few shades lighter color of blue in the sky. Now I think the moon/face stands out in a weird way and that the border does not have the function I hoped for. So I actually failed to create the only important thing I had in mind, videlicet to use my favorite color combination..
I would still not say that this was the most challenging project. The oil-painting was hard for the details and the medium. The animal-portrait was number one in difficultness. The fur scared me long into the project. Though, I am very happy with the result. Still I do not see my Hundertwasser-project as my best successive painting. That place goes to the oil-painting. But this was the only project that had an obvious brainstorming and creativity. When painting the other projects, I have “only” followed the reference picture.

1. It is hard to determine if my portfolio is an accurate reflection of my development in the class. Every four pieces of art I did have different motives. We were not really supposed to paint fur in the water color painting. Though I can clearly establish that I am more confident as an artist. My experience of painting is not much. I had it in elementary school once a week , but we never did any huge painting projects. More smaller stuff that took us one hour to create. For about two years ago I started to paint som acrylic at home, but only faces. Honestly, I am very surprised over my success this semester. So yes, I have developed as an artist. After every project I have realized that I can paint so much more than I earlier thought.
2. My style is neat, detailed, messy and realistic. If I use a reference picture always endeavor that my piece of art will look as similar as possible. A good artist for me does not always need reference pictures to create a masterpiece. Instead the artist uses its own ability and creation to create realistic or ingenious paintings. The most rewarding thing as being an artist is to be able to create something with only a little bit of paint. It is absolutely amazing that you, with only one plain color, can make a beautiful painting with help of brush strokes, lights and darks. I find painting very relaxing and it is a good way to step aside from everyday situations. As an artist you also enjoy to regard art museums better than non-artist. At that time you know all the history and frustration behind the masterpieces.
6. My favorite painting in this class is Brynn’s Hundertwasser-painting. This is an exemplary showcase of what the project was to depict. She uses geometric shapes and creates different patterns. She also uses a patterned border that follows the same principle as my own Hundertwasser-painting, videlicet by making the color of the border to be a contrast to the color of the inside-painting. Without fail, she is using overlapped shapes to creating depth in the painting. The colors of the painting are absolutely outstanding. It is an unwonted color combination that I never seen before. Even the plain colors are unusual. Despite that, the result becomes divine. Somehow it was just the key to creating a splendid piece of art! She used the medium very well and used irregular shapes to create abstractness. Besides that, Brynn was courageous by making this painting. It is indeed a challenge to firstly use random colors and secondly to use irregular abstract shapes. Super good work Brynn!

7. My favourite medium to work with was oil paint. I love how easy it is to blend colors together and to create textured paintings. Although it is my favourite medium to work with, it is the most irritating and frustration medium to work with. Too messy, never dries and if you only ad a bit of another color to your color mix gets destroyed. But all these challenging stuff makes the whole journey so much funnier. I am definitely going to start paint with oil painting. I am not sure if I have mastered the techniques associated to this medium. It needs a lots of practise to achieve that. The landscape picture was the first time I painted with oil. I have never really seen myself as a patient person, but maybe when it comes to painting. My painting process was organized and I usually waited until the next day to paint the next layer.
Even if this was not a project and took me approximatlely under one hour to make, am I still in love with this pumpkin-thing. I love how I made the background and that I only used a palet knife.
Finally want to say that this class has been absolutley awesome. Ms Rossi is a great teacher! I have always walked to the class with happiness inside me. Our projects have been very fun and interesting. I love that we made so many different stuff. Thank you!
